From the Shire to Edmonton Expo: Lord of the Rings stars journey to Alberta

They’ve been through the Mines of Moria, the Elvish city of Lothlórien and even the fires of Mount Doom.

Now the Hobbits are coming to Alberta’s capital city.

The main “diminutive” stars of “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy are the latest additions to this fall’s Edmonton Comics & Entertainment Expo.

Elijah Wood (Frodo Baggins), Sean Astin (Samwise Gamgee), Billy Boyd (Pippin Took) and Dominic Monaghan (Merry Brandybuck) will descend on the 12th annual Edmonton Expo on Sept. 21 – their first appearance at the event.

They will meet fans and take part in a separately ticketed after-hours event: “The Four Hobbits: An Unexpected Reunion.”

Wood, Astin, Boyd and Monaghan join a list of previously announced stars that include Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future), Rick Hoffman (Suits), Catherine Tate (The Office), Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Superbad) and Smallville castmates Erica Durance Laura Vandervoort.
