Police say test drives of luxury vehicles from an Edmonton dealership turned into vehicle thefts earlier this month.
The Edmonton Police Service says the separate thefts of two Lexus vehicles has now ted to charges being laid against three people.
Police are calling it “a big win” against a “sophisticated auto theft ring.”
On the afternoon of July 2, police say a man asked to test drive a Lexus RX 350. Authorities say the suspect took off in the vehicle and attempts to track it were unsuccessful.
The following afternoon, a suspect was allegedly test driving a Lexus RX 500 when they ordered the salesperson out of the vehicle before taking off. Police managed to track that second vehicle.
On July 4, police conducted a search warrant, and they say they seized supplies used for stealing and re-vining vehicles.
Three suspects were arrested, and the two stolen Lexus vehicles were recovered.
