Out of control wildfire confirmed just west of Edson

The Government of Alberta has confirmed there is a new wildfire west of Edson — roughly 215 km west of Edmonton.
The province confirmed to CityNews that smoke in the area that could be seen was from a wildfire along Highway 16, just west of Marlboro, roughly 2.5 km north of Highway 16 — roughly 23 km west of Edson.

At this time, the wildfire is classified as out of control and was last estimated to be around 3.5 hectares.
Fire crews and airtankers are currently working with Yellowhead Country firefighters to battle the blaze.
