A man has been charged after multiple incidents of vehicle arsons, threatening notes, and online harassment across various Edmonton neighbourhoods over the course of more than a year.
The Edmonton Police Service says it received reports of eight such incidents between Feb. 29, 2024, and May 23.
Police say most of the incidents happened early in the morning at homes in Silver Berry, Pollard Meadows, Laurel, Wildrose, and Summerside.
Authorities allege the incidents appear to be targeted as the accused knew the complainants.
They say there is no known connection to Project Gaslight – the extortion investigation in Edmonton – or other previous arson investigations.
A suspect was identified and arrested June 4.
Daman Khaihra, 25, is charged with multiple counts of uttering threats to cause death, criminal harassment and arson. None of the charges have been tested in court.
Police are continuing to investigate.
