If you have received a street sweeping ticket, then know that you are not alone as the City of Edmonton handed out 5,863 tickets to those who did not move their vehicles during the annual street cleaning. That is five times more than the year before.
In 2024, the city handed out 1,067 tickets.
In a statement to CityNews city officials said no warnings were issued, and no vehicles were towed.
Bylaw officers said each ticket carries a $250 fine. This means, Edmonton leveraged over $1.4 million in fines during the street sweeping.
City crews cleaned more than 6,200 kilometres of roadways, clearing debris and dust from roads, bike lanes and major pathways.
