Edmonton’s Sprucewood Library closed due to nearby fire Thursday afternoon

Edmonton fire crews battled an afternoon house and garage fire.

EFRS responded to the scene near 95 Street and 116 Avenue around 4 p.m. after receiving reports that a garage was on fire.

“It was heavily involved when our crew first arrived. It made its way into the home,” said Aaron Krulicki, a District 1 Chief for the Edmonton Fire Rescue Services. “Upon all the searches, no body was found inside, no injuries reported from this incident.”

The fire was close to the Sprucewood Library, which confirmed to CityNews that it was still closed as of 6 p.m. because of smoke.

EFRS adds that the cause of the fire is under investigation.
