The residents of the village of Boyle, Alta., northeast of Edmonton, are being allowed to return home after being evacuated due to a nearby wildfire earlier this week.
Athabasca County says residents on Township Road 642 and Range Road 195 are permitted to return home.
“We encourage residents to ensure they have basic goods and items they need before they return, as some businesses and services may not yet be open,” Athabasca County wrote in a social media post.
“Further, power was interrupted to some homes for a period of around 24 hours, so please ensure you check on electrical appliances like fridges and freezers for spoiled goods.”
Residents on Highway 831 south of Boyle remain under an evacuation order.
Athabasca County says fire crews have most of the fire line contained, and the wildfire is classified as being held.
“They continue to work within the burnt area actioning hot spots to ensure the fire doesn’t restart or grow.”
The village of Boyle is about 145 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.
