5 suspects charged in 2024 record cocaine seizure in Edmonton

Police say five suspects are facing charges in connection with the April 2024 seizure of $3 million worth of cocaine and other drugs in Edmonton.

The suspects were charged on April 21 with offences ranging from participation in the activities of a criminal organization, conspiracy to traffic drugs, drug trafficking, and money laundering.

The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) says 27 kilograms of cocaine – the largest cocaine seizure by ALERT in Edmonton – took place April 30, 2024, while searching a home in the Lewis Estates neighbourhood.

Authorities allege the suspects are members of an organized crime group involved in drug trafficking in the Edmonton area. They allege the members also supplied drugs to Grande Prairie and Saskatchewan.

The five suspects, all from Edmonton, range in age from 27 to 35. They are scheduled to appear in court on May 22.
