1 person hospitalized in 3-alarm fire at northeast Edmonton apartment

One resident was taken to hospital in a three-alarm fire at a multi-residential building in northeast Edmonton Tuesday afternoon.

The Edmonton Fire Rescue Services firefighters arrived on scene at 134 Avenue and 49 Street at 1:31 p.m., according to the Edmonton Fire PIO.

They quickly called a second-alarm fire to bring in additional crews. The fire was upgraded to a third alarm at 2:07 p.m., bringing more crews to the scene.

EFRS says crews have been assisting evacuations.

The condition of the resident taken to hospital was not immediately known.

By 3:30 p.m., Edmonton Fire PIO told CityNews the fire was still active, calling it a “very fluid scene at this time.”
