Police say four people were killed, including two teenagers, in a highway collision involving two SUVs south of Edmonton Saturday night.
Ponoka RCMP say a 41-year-old woman, a 26-year-old man, and two 14-year-olds died in the crash on Highway 2A near Township Road 434 – about 100 kilometres south of Alberta’s capital.
Investigators believe the woman driving a GMC Acadia was passing other vehicles when she struck an oncoming Volkswagen Tiguan, driven by the 26-year-old man and with the two teens as passengers.
The woman, man and a teenage boy were pronounced dead at the scene. A teenage girl was airlifted to hospital but died of her injuries.
All four lived in Maskwacis.
A police investigation is ongoing.
