3 suspects from Montreal charged in ‘sophisticated’ vehicle thefts in Edmonton

Three suspects are facing charges in connection to a series of auto thefts in Edmonton this year.

The Edmonton Police Service says suspects used “sophisticated electronic equipment” to steal Lexus and Toyota vehicles, which were then shipped overseas.

On April 16, police say three suspects from Montreal were arrested after allegedly moving a stolen Lexus to a west end storage locker.

Yaya Oussalah, 18, Corry Bush, 21, and Fahim Fils Aime, 21, are facing multiple motor vehicle theft and other charges.

The EPS’ targeted response to auto-theft prevention (TRAP) team says more than 20 high-end Lexus and Toyota trucks and SUVs have been reported stolen so far this year. Five of the stolen vehicles have been recovered.

“We would like to remind the owners of newer Lexus and Toyota SUVs and newer Toyota trucks to take extra precautions securing their vehicles inside a garage when possible,” said Acting Staff Sgt. Ian Strom in a news release. “We also recommend the use of an aftermarket ignition kill switch and a steering wheel club.”
