Man accused of assaulting wheelchair-bound senior after breaking into home northwest of Edmonton

Alberta RCMP say a 43-year-old man has been charged in connection to an assault of a senior in a wheelchair.

Mounties say on Mar. 9, they received a report of a woman in a wheelchair having been assaulted following a break and enter in Whitecourt, Alta.

Officers responded to the scene and took a man into custody.

Dustin “Dusty” Swanson, 43, has been charged with assault with a weapon, assault, uttering threats, breaking and entering a home, and two counts of mischief under $5,000.

Swanson has been released on bail and is expected to appear in court April 22.

Whitecourt is about 175 kilometres northwest of Edmonton.
