No charges to be laid after infant found dead in parking lot in December: Edmonton police

Edmonton police say they have ended their investigation into the death of an infant that was discovered in a south Edmonton parking lot last December.

On Dec. 7, officers responded to a shopping complex near Parsons Road and Ellerslie Road, after receiving reports of a death.

When officers arrived, they found the body of a baby.

On Dec. 12, an autopsy was able to confirm that the infant had died prior to birth, and the manner of death was pending additional testing.

Police have since been able to confirm that the infant’s death was non-criminal. They add no charges are expected and the investigation is now over.
