Edmonton police warn public of release of violent sex offender

By News Staff

Edmonton police issued a public warning Tuesday about the release of a sexual offender who they believe could commit another offence.

Byron Douglas Harpold, 60, is a convicted violent sexual offender who will be living in Edmonton under a series of court-ordered conditions after he’s released from jail.

Police say “given Harpold’s criminal history with child pornography and indecent acts, his potential victim pool is diverse, widespread, and unpredictable.”

He will be wearing an ankle monitor and will be managed by the Behavioral Assessment Unit of the Edmonton Police Service.

Police say if anyone witnesses any potential breaches of these conditions by Harpold, they must contact the EPS at 780-423-4567.
