Police investigating homicide after woman found dead near North Saskatchewan River

Edmonton police say they are investigating the death of a woman who was found near the North Saskatchewan River on Dec. 30.

EPS says around 4:45 p.m., a woman was found dead on the riverbank east of Quesnell Bridge near Whitemud Park.

An autopsy on Jan. 2, confirmed the woman’s identity as 43-year-old Ashley Burke, and it is believed she died from a homicide.

Police note the cause of death is being withheld for investigative purposes.

Bruke was living in Edmonton but reportedly had ties to Spruce Grove, and police are looking to speak with anyone who had contact with her between Dec. 27 and Dec. 30.
