Family & friends of 2 motorcyclists killed in summer collision call for justice

Four months after a pair of motorcyclists were killed in a northern Alberta collision, family and friends gathered to call for justice. As Elliott Knopp reports, charges are pending against the driver of a semi-truck.

Charges are pending against the driver of a semi-truck involved in a collision that took the lives of two motorcyclists about three and a half hours northeast of Edmonton last summer.

Friday, friends and loved ones gathered outside RCMP headquarters calling for justice, four months after their untimely deaths.

Brenda Powder singing a song passed down to her fiancee Laurent Isadore, from his late mother.

“It’s meant to carry us when we’re too weak to carry ourselves,” said Powder.

Isadore, along with fellow motorcyclist Tyler Duboski were killed in a collision on August 31, 2024.

RCMP says a semi-truck crossed over into oncoming traffic near High Prairie, hitting a group of motorcyclists taking part in a charity ride for the homeless, four other people were injured, including Duboski’s older brother whose injuries and mental scars still hurt him today.

“I was screaming because I was the first one to see my little brother gone,” said Cody Clemente, Tyler’s older brother.

He says the loss of his little brother and Isadore have some in their community struggling to recover, gathering to call out the four months without charges.

“It’s going to take a while to get back on a bike. I can’t even drive single-lane highways right now. I get too scared, I start shaking,” said Clemente.

A spokesperson for the Alberta RCMP says “every investigation is different, ones such as this requires specialized support such as collision analysts,” these can cause delays, but says the goal is a successful conviction.

Those who knew Laurent Isadore and Tyler Duboski, know the road to recovery won’t be easy.

“Laurent, for the community, was a spiritual go-to. Very involved in the community up there,” Harley Jamerson, Tyler’s uncle.

But the impact they leave behind still resonates with them on their road to recovery.

“Probably the two most beautiful people I’ll ever meet. They lifted up people. That’s one thing that saddens all of us we don’t get that high energy from them,” said Clemente.

Mounties are unable to say when the charges are expected to be laid but will provide and name the suspect, once charges are confirmed in court.
