Cannabis store robberies: EPS looking for suspect

By News Staff

After two south Edmonton cannabis stores were robbed in the span of a week, police have released images of a suspect who is still at large.

The Edmonton Police Service says a man entered a cannabis store at 52 Avenue and Terwillegar Boulevard on Sept. 17 at 11 p.m., approached a clerk and demanded cash. He asked the clerk to take him to the stock room and allegedly forced the clerk to assist him in filling bags with cannabis before fleeing the store.

Five days later, police say the same man entered another cannabis shop at 66 Street and 42 Avenue at around 10 p.m. Witnesses say he showed a handgun, and the clerk pressed the panic alarm. The suspect fled the shop and was last seen running north along 66 Street. Police did not specify if the suspect took anything from the store.

According to Edmonton police, the suspect wore a fake beard, sunglasses and a baseball hat in both incidents.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377.
