Heat prompts Edmonton’s extreme weather response

By News Staff

With hot weather expected over the next week, the City of Edmonton will activate its extreme weather response on Friday. It is expected to end on Wednesday, September 11 at 9 a.m.

The City says the heat response will be extended if the forecast changes.

This activation is put in place to help protect vulnerable people in hot weather. It helps people avoid dehydration by providing access to drinking water and cool places to rest.

Edmonton is forecast to see temperatures as high as 30 C over the next few days.

The City is providing 24-hour access to potable water at bottle-filling stations attached to fire hydrants in several parts of the city.

The City is also taking additional measures like water bottle distribution to vulnerable people. Indoor City facilities including libraries and recreation centres are also available.
