Suspect charged with attempted murder after shooting of teen in Louis Bull First Nation

By News Staff

A man wanted by police after the shooting of a 15-year-old on a First Nation south of Edmonton has been arrested.

The RCMP say the suspect was taken into custody at a Sherwood Park hotel room on Thursday, a day after the shooting in front of a home on Louis Bull First Nation. Police allege a loaded semi-automatic rifle was seized during the arrest.

Maskwacis RCMP say they were called to the home Wednesday and found the teenage victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was flown to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police say a second victim sustained minor injuries after being hit by a car. They were treated and later released.

Mounties say a suspect was identified “thanks to cooperation from the public.”

“We are thankful to the members of the public who came forward and provided crucial information that allowed us to quickly identify and locate this suspect,” Staff Sgt. Richard Mckay of the Maskwacis RCMP said in a news release.

The Strathcona RCMP and the Alberta RCMP Emergency Response Team assisted the Maskwacis RCMP with the arrest.

Kashton Fearious Bull, 24, has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm contrary to order, and four counts of weapons offences. He is next scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 22.

None of the allegations have been proven in court.
