Edmonton police say southbound Winterburn Road is closed between Yellowhead and 112 Avenue.

In an update Friday afternoon, police said they responded to a report of a serious collision around 9:30 a.m. involving a motorcycle and a cube van.

Police say a 35-year-old man who was driving the motorcycle was taken to hospital with serious non-life-threatening injuries.

Through the initial stages of an investigation, police believe speed was a factor in the collision.

EPS also note they are in the process of reopening Winterburn Road.
