ASIRT investigating fatal police shooting in Edmonton in mid-July
Alberta’s police watchdog — the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) — say they are investigating a shooting involving a police officer in mid-July.
ASIRT says around 11:57 p.m. on July 16, the Edmonton Police Service responded to a report that a man walking around and pointing a gun at a woman’s head.

EPS responded to the scene and found the man pointing a gun at a bus.
Officers then reportedly engaged with the man, and one of them fired their gun.
The man was injured and taken to a hospital by paramedics where he later died on July 18.
Investigators were able to recover an imitation firearm at the scene following the shooting.
