Charge laid after 3-year-old fatally struck by pickup truck in Allard

The driver of a pickup truck that struck a family crossing the street in Allard last month, killing a three-year-old boy, was charged by Edmonton police.

The Edmonton Police Service says Zhaobo Wu, 30, was charged with careless driving and three counts of failing to yield to a pedestrian.

Three-year-old Heyan Radadiya was killed in the June 27 collision. The boy’s seven-year-old sister Aara and 39-year-old mother Jalpa were injured.

Police have maintained the pickup truck “stopped quickly” at a three-way stop on Allard Boulevard SW before turning left onto Allard Road SW, striking the family while they were using a marked crosswalk. The accused remained on the scene.
