Extreme heat is in the forecast for Edmonton.
Canada’s weather agency issued a heat warning, with temperatures expected to rise to 34 C by midweek.
Environment Canada says Sunday’s daytime highs will be 30 C and will gradually increase “for many regions of Alberta.” One of those is Edmonton.
“Overnight lows in the mid teens will not provide much relief from the heat,” Environment Canada wrote.
Edmontonians are told to hydrate, wear sunscreen and take breaks from the heat.
Environment Canada recommends rescheduling outdoor activities to cooler hours of the day and checking on children or pets before exiting a vehicle.
“Do not leave any person or pet inside a closed vehicle, for any length of time.”
Edmontonians are asked to monitor for any symptoms of heat stroke or heat exhaustion, which include high body temperature, lack of sweat, confusion, fainting, and unconsciousness.
