Woman killed following morning assault: Edmonton police

Edmonton police say a woman was killed Wednesday morning following an assault at a home near 2 Avenue and 42 Street.
EPS says around 5 a.m., officers responded to a report of a serious assault.
When officers arrived, they found a woman suffering from life-threatening injuries. Paramedics were called and declared the woman dead at the scene.
Police say a man was taken into custody shortly after.
The man and woman reportedly knew each other prior to the incident, and police say they are not looking for any additional suspects.
An autopsy is scheduled for Friday morning.
