Drugs, weapons and $116K in cash seized in Strathcona County bust: RCMP

Two Edmonton men are facing charges after police in Strathcona County say they seized drugs, weapons and a large amount of cash after a six-month investigation into drug trafficking.

Two Edmonton men are facing charges after police in Strathcona County say they seized drugs, weapons and a large amount of cash after a six-month investigation into drug trafficking.

Strathcona County RCMP says its drug section executed search warrants on two homes and two vehicles in Edmonton.

Officers allegedly seized 9.6 kg of methamphetamine, 5.58 kg of fentanyl, 7.13 kg of cocaine, 1.3 kg of cannabis, 410.44 g of MDMA as well as hundreds of drug capsules and cartons of illegal tobacco cigarettes.

“The street value of the seizure, including the methamphetamine, the fentanyl, the cocaine, the cannabis and the MDMA is estimated to be in excess of $1 million,” said RCMP Cst. Chantelle Kelly.

Police say they also seized a handgun, a knife, two batons, three tasers/stun guns, a can of pepper spray, 140 rounds of ammunition, and roughly $116,000 in cash.

It’s being called the single largest drug bust in Strathcona County RCMP history.

Police say the investigation began last November.

A 45-year-old and 38-year-old from Edmonton are facing numerous drug or weapons charges. They were released from custody with conditions and are scheduled to appear in court on June 28.
