Edmonton superfan shows his Oilers Pride

An Edmonton Oilers super fan is going above and beyond. His house is all decked out in orange and blue ahead of Game 3 in the Western Conference Final on Monday.

“McDavid is here and it seems like a good year to bring it back,” said Warren Sillanpaa.

Sillanpaa has been painting his fence to celebrate the Oilers in the playoffs since 2006. This year, he decided to add something new to his home, located in downtown Edmonton, every time the home team advances to a new series.

“When they beat L.A., I added Skinner in the middle on the gate, and when they beat Vancouver, we added the oil derrick.”

As a fan since 1987, Sillanpaa says he’s optimistic the Oilers will make it to the finals.

“I think 5 games this round. Game 5, no Game 6.”

“We’re going to be going with some LEDs on the poles and maybe along the fence,” said Sillanpaa.

And for the big win, he says he has to find a Stanley Cup replica to add to his house decorations.

“Then we’re gonna have to find some kind of Stanley Cup. Some rubber tires or something. We’ll figure out something,” Sillanpaa explained.

Sillanpaa said he’s already put a couple of thousand dollars into the decorations.

“The biggest cost was getting the printing done for the background. Wasn’t a big pitch at once.”

And he’s happy with the community support that he’s been receiving.

“We had horns hocking, people coming by with their families. It’s been great.”

The Edmonton Oilers are the last Canadian team left in the NHL playoffs.
