Edmonton man charged with child luring in Morinville

An Edmonton man faces a series of child exploitation charges from Morinville RCMP, saying he allegedly lured a teen over Snapchat. Lauren Boothby reports.

A 34-year-old Edmonton man is facing sex charges involving a minor for alleged offences in nearby Morinville last year.

Morinville RCMP allege the accused conducted sexual acts with a 15-year-old last year between Sept. 1 and Nov. 14 – the date when Mounties received a complaint.

Investigators with the Morinville RCMP general investigation section allege the suspect lured the teenager using Snapchat, “then picked them up from school and brought them to his apartment.”

Mounties say this happened several times.

Jaswindra Nath has been charged with sexual Interference, child luring, arranging a sexual offence with a child, and obtaining sexual services for considerations from a person under 18.

He was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in court Thursday. The allegations against him have not been tested in court.

Authorities believe there could be other victims.

Police allege the accused went by the name “Jash” and had usernames “yegnut” and “yegnutn” on Snapchat.
