Edmonton police release cause of death of 15-year-old killed earlier this week

Edmonton police have released the cause of death of the 15-year-old boy who was killed earlier this week while walking his dog.

Edmonton’s Medical Examiner completed an autopsy Friday, which confirmed the teen died from a stab wound.

The medical examiner also ruled the cause of death to be a homicide.

“This is a tragic loss that has impacted the whole community, and our hearts go out to the victim’s family, friends, classmates and others who have been affected by the senseless death of a young person,” says EPS Homicide Staff Sergeant Colin Leathem.

“We want to reassure the community that the suspect has been apprehended and there is no risk to public safety.”

Police took 40-year-old Keith James Landry into custody on Tuesday following the incident, and he was charged with second-degree murder on Thursday.
