The air quality in Edmonton remained very poor Sunday, as wildfire smoke from Fort Nelson, B.C., continued to blanket the city.
Edmonton’s air quality was at nine (high risk), down from 10+ (very high risk) on Saturday.
Environment Canada’s special air quality advisory remained in effect.
The wildfire smoke was expected to move eastward though Sunday night, with conditions on track to improve by Monday night.
The smoke is causing reduced visibility and harmful air quality.
“Wildfire smoke can be harmful to everyone’s health even at low concentrations. Everyone can take action to reduce their exposure to wildfire smoke,” Environment Canada wrote in its advisory.
