Edmonton police say two men were killed and another was seriously injured in a daylight shooting in the city’s southwest Monday.

Officers were called to Cavanagh Boulevard SW and Cherniak Way SW – outside a construction site in a residential area – for the report of a shooting around noon.

Police say a 49-year-old man and 57-year-old man were found dead. Autopsies were scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday.

A 51-year-old man was seriously injured and taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Edmonton police say they are not looking for any suspects.

Witnesses and community members confirm one of those killed was a prominent Edmonton home builder. Buta Singh Gill, the owner of Gill Built Homes, is being remembered for his generosity and an active member of his local gurudwara.

A large crowd was gathered at the scene Monday afternoon as homicide detectives investigated.
