Parkland County school bus driver charged with child pornography offences: ALERT

A 34-year-old school bus driver from Parkland County has been charged with child phonography-related offences, the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) says.

ALERT says Jared Corbett was taken into custody on Feb. 7 with the help of RCMP.

ALERT’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit began an investigation in October 2023 after receiving a tip claiming an unknown suspect had been sharing a large quantity of child pornography.

Police say the investigation is still ongoing as investigators are searching computers and electronic devices seized from Corbett’s home in Stony Plain, Alta.

Corbett has been charged with possession, distribution, and accessing child pornography. He has been released from custody with a number of court-imposed conditions, and is expected to appear in court on March 27.

ICE says “the nature of Corbett’s employment placed him in a position of trust and authority.” They are asking anyone with information regarding the case to come forward to police by contacting local police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
