Alberta’s police watchdog — the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) — says an RCMP officer has been charged with assault in connection to arrests made in November 2020.
ASIRT says on March 14, 2021, they were alerted to arrests that were made following a vehicle chase on a road outside Lacombe on Nov. 14, 2020.
Through their investigation, it is believed that two people had been assaulted during the arrest process.
A review of the investigation by the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service (ACPS) determined there was reasonable grounds for charges.
On Feb. 22, RCMP Const. Raymond Wallace was charged with two counts of assault. He is expected to appear in court on March 28.
