Man, teenager injured in West Edmonton Mall stabbing were family members: police

Edmonton police say a stabbing at West Edmonton Mall on Monday sent a 14-year-old boy and a 44-year-old man to hospital with serious injuries.

Police tell CityNews the two victims were family members.

Officers received a report of a stabbing around 3:45 p.m. Police were told it began as a verbal altercation between the two victims and a group of four male suspects.

“The altercation turned physical resulting in the initial two males suffering stab wounds and the four suspects fleeing the scene,” EPS said in a statement.

The man and the teenager’s injuries were serious but non-life-threatening.

Police say two of the four suspects were located – a 20-year-old man and 23-year-old man are facing charges. Authorities add the search is ongoing to locate the other two suspects.
