Man charged with murder in death of 5-week-old baby

Edmonton police have charged a 28-year-old man in the death of his biological infant son.

EPS says on Feb. 5, 2023, Paramedics responded to a home on 156 Street and 95 Avenue after receiving a report of an infant in medical distress.

Paramedics took the infant to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries on Feb. 9.

At the time, EPS began investigating the death as suspicious. An autopsy later revealed the five-week-old died of abusive head trauma with the manner of death being homicide.

On Jan. 23, 2024, EPS arrested and charged George Russell Hulleman with second-degree murder and an unrelated firearms charge.
