Charges laid after Edmonton crime spree

Edmonton police say a 42-year-old man has been charged in connection to five crimes that took place earlier in January.

EPS issued a statement on Jan. 12, asking the public for help identifying a man who was believed to be connected to a crime spree.

In their release, police said, over Jan. 8 and 9, a suspect allegedly robbed two stores in the north and west end of the city. It was believed the same suspect was connected to the theft of a vehicle in Westmount, an assault at a bank, and an attempted fraud at another bank.

Officers have since taken Shawn Lundgren into custody in connection with their investigation.

He has been charged with a number of offences, including robbery, theft, and assault.

“Investigators are thankful for the assistance that was received from citizens in both identifying and locating a suspect who was believed to pose a high risk to the public,” Det. Mike Walkom of the EPS Robbery Section said. “We encourage members of the public to ensure they bring the information they know of suspects and crimes forward and not to assume someone else has done so.”
