Edmonton police identify armed robbery suspect

Edmonton police say they’ve identified a suspect connected to an armed robbery on Jan. 5.

Police say on Jan. 5 around 11:45 p.m., two suspects entered a convenience store near 89 Street and 118 Avenue.

While in the store, one of the suspects pulled out a gun, pointed it at the cashier, and demanded money.

EPS says they’ve identified the suspect who was holding the gun as 31-year-old Darius John Morgan Brertton, and have issued arrest warrants.

The second suspect, who was armed with pepper spray, has been described as a man, also around 5’10”. At the time, he was wearing a white face covering, dark grey jacket, blue jeans, and a black toque.

Police are asking if anyone knows the location of Brertton or the identity of the second suspect, to contact investigators at 780-423-4567 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
