Suspect robs 4 south Edmonton banks in 10 weeks: EPS

By News Staff

A suspected bank robber who slipped written notes to a teller demanding money in October has robbed three more south Edmonton banks since then, according to police.

The Edmonton Police Service have linked the same suspect to four robberies – on Oct. 30, Dec. 22, Jan. 4 and Jan. 6.

A suspect stole an undisclosed amount of cash from a TD Bank on Ellerslie Road SW on Oct. 30. No weapon was shown.

The suspect then fled the bank on foot, police say, and ran across the parking lot. Investigators believe a getaway vehicle was parked nearby.

Police say the suspect took the same steps in each robbery.

“Wearing a disguise, typically a blue medical facemask, the male approaches a teller and gives them a written note,” EPS said in a news release. “The note threatens that he has a weapon and demands money. The suspect flees the area, and investigators believe he may have fled in a vehicle. No weapon is produced.”

Police are describing the suspect as a man between 20 and 35 years old, roughly five-foot-seven, weighing 150 pounds, with a black beard or moustache.
