Alberta promotes its film industry as minister meets Hollywood execs in L.A.

Alberta’s minister of arts, culture, and status of women is heading to Los Angeles to try and promote Alberta’s film industry.

The province made the announcement on Tuesday, stating the minister would be travelling to the Golden State on Wednesday, before returning to Alberta on Friday.

While Minister Tanya Fir is in L.A., she will be meeting with executives from HBO and other organizations to highlight what Alberta has to offer.

Part of the meetings will also include a meeting with producers showcasing the work done to support recent critically acclaimed shows filmed in province.

Investment in the film and television industry is at an all-time high according to the province. Recently, major productions like season one of the “Last of Us” and “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” have brought new jobs into the province, which has helped the provincial economy.

“Alberta’s government is proud of our talented and growing film and television industry, and we want to keep the momentum going for years to come. We want producers around the world to know about our competitive financial advantages, breathtaking locations, world-class studios, and exceptional crews and talent,” said Fir.

The province added a full list of expenses will be posted on the travel and expense disclosure page following the trip.
