Person shot outside Kingsway Mall in attempted carjacking

Edmonton police say one person has been shot in a carjacking incident outside Kingsway Mall Tuesday evening.

The Edmonton Police Service says officers responded to a report of a weapons complaint in the parking lot outside the mall at around 7:16 p.m.

Police say a suspected reportedly shot a person then carjacked a vehicle, before fleeing the area towards 118 Avenue and 101 Street and where they then collided with a building.

The suspect has been taken into custody. Police say a gun was seized during a search of the vehicle after the collision.

The individual who was shot was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
