Edmonton bank robbery suspect demanded money with ‘written notes’: police

Police are looking for help identifying a suspected bank robber in southeast Edmonton.

The Edmonton Police Service alleges an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen from a bank near Ellerslie Road and 50 Street — in the Walker Lake neighbourhood – Oct. 30 around 2:35 p.m.

Police say the suspect “approached the bank teller and provided a series of written notes demanding money.” No weapon was produced.

The suspect fled the bank on foot, police say, and ran across the parking lot. Investigators believe a getaway vehicle was parked nearby.

Nobody was physically injured during the incident, police say.

Police are describing the suspect as a man between 20 and 35 years old, roughly five-foot-eight, weighing 150 pounds, with a black beard or moustache. Hee was wearing light blue jeans, a grey-hooded sweatshirt, grey runners with white soles and black leather gloves.

The EPS robbery section is investigating.
