Edmonton police say the death of a man in Old Strathcona, near Whyte Avenue, earlier this week was a homicide.

The Edmonton Police Service says an autopsy Friday revealed the victim, who was found in an apartment building on 106 Street and 80 Avenue, died of a gunshot wound.

The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Jordan McDonald.

Police were responding to the report of a weapons complaint at the building Wednesday around 10 a.m. They arrived to find a man with serious, life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The EPS homicide unit is investigating.
