Shelter-in-place lifted for O’Chiese First Nation but suspect still at large: police

By News Staff

Alberta RCMP have lifted a shelter-in-place alert for a First Nation southwest of Edmonton, but they are still searching for a suspect who allegedly fired shots at police.

Rocky Mountain House RCMP rescinded the public safety alert for O’Chiese First Nation around 10:35 a.m., roughly seven hours after it was first issued.

Police believe the “immediate threat to public safety has subsided.”

But a suspect considered “armed and dangerous” is still at large, according to RCMP.

Shaeden Muskeg, 24, is described as five-foot-nine, weighing 200 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

RCMP say Muskeg has warrants for his arrest from a Sept. 13 incident on Sunchild First Nation where he was charged with multiple offences, including robbery with a firearm, aggravated assault and discharging a firearm with intent.
