Edmonton man accused of groping four swimmers at Terwillegar rec centre

By News Staff

Police say an Edmonton man groped four female swimmers, including two under the age of 16, at the Terwillegar Community Recreation Centre pool earlier this month.

The Edmonton Police Service says it received a report the accused groped the victims in the evening of Aug. 9 while swimming in the pool and lazy river.

Yaser Moshfeq, 26, was charged with two counts of sexual interference and two counts of sexual assault.

Investigators believe others may have also been sexually assaulted that evening.

“Since Aug. 9, investigators have reviewed detailed video from the Terwillegar rec centre, which is what led them to believe that there are several other victims in this event,” acting Det. Maciej Rocki said in video message in a news release.

Police are encouraging other potential victims who were at the Terwillegar pool between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Aug. 9 to contact EPS.

“We understand that these are difficult conversations to have but we want people to know that we are here to help.”
