Edmonton, Treaty 6 sign deal to create Indigenous focused housing

The City of Edmonton is looking at a new way of addressing homelessness, through culturally appropriate housing.

Edmonton signing a deal with the Confederacy of Treaty Six, committing to work together to create Indigenous focused housing.

Data shows a about 22 per cent of Indigenous people in Edmonton are in core housing need, disproportionately higher than the general population.

The letter of intent, will see Treaty 6 and Edmonton working together to advocate for more Indigenous led affordable housing from the province, and federal government.
