$2M of fentanyl seized in southwest Edmonton; warrants issued for 2 suspects

By News Staff

Police say warrants have been issued for two men tied to a major drug seizure in southwest Edmonton.

Officers were called a condo complex near 22 Avenue SW and 120 Street on Aug. 3, 2022, to investigate a drug complaint.

Police say they seized $2.2 million worth of drugs – mostly fentanyl ($2.1 million), carfentanyl ($42,000) and methamphetamine ($6,000).

“Removing this amount of fentanyl from city streets will certainly reduce victimization in our community, in particular the victimization of members of our vulnerable populations who are frequently targeted,” said Staff Sergeant Dave Paton in a release.

Kenneth Murray Matthews, 27, and Karnvir Singh Sandhu, 26, each face five charges.

A 65-year-old woman was also charged with uttering a forged document and impersonation.
