Country star Brett Kissel cheering on Edmonton Oilers during playoff run

Game 2 of the Stanley Cup playoff series between the Edmonton Oilers and the LA Kings is set to take place at Rogers Arena Wednesday night.
Game 1 didn’t go how fans had hoped, but one of the Oilers’ biggest fans, Brett Kissel, will be taking the stage for some pre-game entertainment.
“This is playoff hockey. So the Oilers have found another gear, I know they will find another gear for a deep cup run. My hope is that our fans find another gear, and we can show the rest of Canada what we are made of tonight,” explained Kissel.
Born and Raised in Alberta, Brett Kissel is a huge supporter of the team. He says it’s an honour to be playing in the Ice District tonight.
“I’m the biggest Oilers fan around, I mean here in Oil Country, everyone loves the team. And I swear, if you were to cut me open, you would see that I bleed orange and blue.”
He’s even got a little something extra to bring him and the Oilers luck tonight. His daughter snuck a drawing into his hat case.

After his pre-game performance inside Fan Park, Kissel will be heading inside Rogers Place to perform the American national anthem, before cheering on the team himself.
He tells CityNews he’s hopeful the Oilers will secure a win tonight.
“I wouldn’t miss it, even if I had to buy tickets secondhand or talk my way in, and hide in a janitor’s garbage bag, I’m not going to miss seeing the Oilers play in Game 2.”
When asked if he has any game-day superstitions: “My outfit, the socks that I’m wearing have to be lucky socks. So the socks I’m wearing are Johnny Cash socks with the Johnny Cash logo on them. I wore them at the Grand Ole Opry last Friday which was a very special night for me, and it’s going to be equally special if not more special to be standing at centre ice singing the anthem tonight for the Oilers,” he explained.

Puck drop for Game 2 is at 8 p.m., but any Oilers’ fans wanting to make their way down to the Ice District to catch Kissel’s performance can do so prior to the game. Gates for the Fan Park open at 6 p.m.
Admission is free, but space is limited so fans are encouraged to arrive early to secure a spot.
