Hollywood North strikes again, this time with Vancouver being chosen as the filming location for the massive HBO hit “The Last of Us.”
Production for the second season of the post-apocalyptic series is moving west after filming took place in Alberta for season 1.
The show is based on the best-selling, critically acclaimed PlayStation video game of the same name. Fans of the show know a significant part of the post-apocalyptic drama takes place in the Pacific Northwest.
HBO has not shared when exactly production will begin. However, the network confirmed this January that it picked up “The Last of Us” for a second season.

Vancouver is no stranger to film production. The city has been featured in many series and movies, including The X-Files and the Deadpool franchise.
Despite reports from some in the industry that there has been a slowdown, Prem Gill, the CEO of Creative BC, previously told CityNews film production is on track for this time of year — although she says other factors are at play.
The season one finale of “The Last of Us,” which features actor Pedro Pascal, aired on March 12. The series filmed in more than 150 locations across Alberta.
Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim is expected to comment on the decision to film the popular HBO hit on Friday.
