Blue ribbons line funeral procession route

The regimental funerals for Edmonton police Const. Travis Jordan and Const. Brett Ryan will be held on Monday at Rogers Place in Edmonton.

In an act of remembrance, blue ribbons have been tied to posts, fences and trees since the news of their deaths.

After Edmonton police announced funeral details last week, blue ribbons now also line the path the funeral procession will take on Monday.

Blue ribbons signify mourning for police officers who lose their lives serving and protecting their communities.

The funeral procession will begin at the Alberta legislature and leave around 11:45 a.m.

Starting on Fortway Drive, the procession will head north along 107 Street. Next, it will turn onto Jasper Avenue before heading north again on 105 Street.

Finally, the procession will turn onto 104 Avenue before turning onto 102 Street, where it will end in front of Rogers Place.

That’s where the ceremony for Ryan and Jordan will be held.

The public is invited to pay their respects by lining the way along the procession route.
