First shipment of children’s medication arrives in Alberta

By CityNews Staff

The province of Alberta announced that the first shipment of children’s pain and fever medication has arrived in Edmonton, with 250,000 bottles destined for hospitals.

However, there is still no set timeframe for the remaining 4.75 million bottles, which were shipped from Turkey and delayed due to concerns over child-proof caps.

Alberta Health Services stated that these concerns have been resolved and the shipment is awaiting final approval from Health Canada.

Once approved, these additional bottles will be distributed to pharmacies across the province.

The government announced the purchase of the medication in early December, as the province faced an above-average flu spread.

Alberta Health stated that while the prices for the medication may be slightly higher than expected retail prices, they will still be in line with usual costs.
