Could Edmonton regulate the removal of trees on private property?
It’s one idea floated at city council as it aims to boost the tree population.
The city is planning to add more than two million trees to its urban forest.
Right now, there are an estimate 380,000 on boulevards and opens spaces.
Advocates for the proposal say it provides environmental and aesthetic benefits.
However, critics say it would impact housing density.
Administration will work on a possible bylaw that will be presented to council at a later date.
